SunOnTap

Privacy & support

SunOnTap is provided by Icey AB, Sweden. This policy covers sunontap.com and the SunOnTap iPhone and Android apps. Updated 13 October 2026.

No account, ads or purchases. Location is optional: you can always search or move the map instead. The apps do not include advertising or analytics SDKs and block the website’s Google Analytics.

Location and searches

If you choose “Near me” and allow location access, SunOnTap uses your approximate or precise position to center the map and find nearby places. The apps request location only while in use, not background tracking. You can change permission in your phone’s settings.

Your map area, search text and coordinates needed for maps, nearby places and weather are sent over HTTPS to SunOnTap and the providers described below. A map area may reveal your location when you center the map on yourself. Do not enter sensitive personal information in the search box.

Map and information providers

The map uses Google Maps. Map requests can include the area you view, your IP address, browser/device details and provider cookies. Google processes this under its privacy policy. MapTiler is an existing fallback map provider, subject to its privacy policy.

SunOnTap uses OpenStreetMap/Overpass for buildings, venues and bathing places, Nominatim for search, and Open-Meteo for weather. Requests are normally made through our server; weather may also be requested directly from Open-Meteo if needed. Venue photographs and details may come from Google or Wikimedia where available. These services receive the search or area needed to answer the request; direct connections also expose your IP address and browser details.

See the policies of OpenStreetMap, Open-Meteo and Wikimedia. Links to a venue or directions open another service with its own privacy practices.

Storage and retention

Your device stores cached maps/place data, interface preferences and the last permitted location. The last location is reused for up to 30 minutes; a stored value may remain until replaced or device data is cleared. This local storage helps the app recover from interruptions. Remove app data using your phone’s settings (or delete the app on iPhone) to clear it; website users can clear site data in their browser.

Our server caches area-based results and search results to reduce repeated requests. These caches are shared, not personal accounts or location histories. Technical hosting logs may contain IP addresses, request URLs, timestamps and error information for operation and security. Provider and hosting retention follows their service settings and obligations; we do not promise immediate deletion of their logs.

Website analytics

The website in an ordinary browser uses Google Analytics for usage measurement, which can process cookies, identifiers, page views, approximate location and technical information under Google’s privacy policy. This analytics loading is disabled and blocked in the SunOnTap apps. SunOnTap does not sell personal information or use it for advertising.

Sharing and support

Sharing opens your phone’s share sheet. Only the link and text you choose are handed to the app or recipient you select. SunOnTap does not access your contacts, photos, camera or microphone.

If you contact us, we use your message and reply address to handle your request. Contact hello@icey.se for support, questions about personal data, or a request for access, correction or deletion. Describe the relevant dates and requests; do not send passwords. You can also contact the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection, IMY.

Using SunOnTap

The map is also subject to the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service and Google Terms of Service.

Sun and shade are estimates based on building data and the selected time. Clouds, trees, missing buildings and venue changes can affect the result. Check opening hours with the venue. Bathing-place listings do not indicate water quality or swimming safety.

If loading fails, check your connection and use Reload or Try again. Location access is not required. Include your phone model, system version and a description of the issue when contacting support.
